Prevent Water Damage in Your House With Basement Waterproofing

Water damage in the basement
Basement waterproofing does a lot for your home. Not only does it help to protect your house from flooding and water damage but it also helps to reduce excess moisture and eliminate musty odors and allergens that can affect your health.
However, despite the importance of basement waterproofing, there are many misconceptions surrounding this waterproofing service. To help clear the air, here are some of the most common myths about basement waterproofing and the real truth you need to know.
  1. Houses in the city don't need to waterproof their basements. Your basement is susceptible to water damage no matter where in the U.S. you live. Approximately 17% of urban land in the U.S. is within a high-risk flood zone and more than 670 communities in the U.S. are expected to face repeated flooding by the end of this century, according to National Geographic.
  2. Basement waterproofing is a one-time service. Just like the rest of your home, you'll need to maintain your basement waterproofing system. This helps to ensure your home's wall coating and wall bracing are in good shape to keep water and moisture content out.
  3. Black tar paint is all you need to prevent leaks. While a coating of black tar paint will help to keep some water vapor out of your basement, it won't waterproof your entire basement. Basement waterproofing is based on water diversion. That means it needs several different methods to keep unwanted water and moisture out of the home.
  4. Basements don't have water damage if you can't see any water. You don't need to see water in your basement to have a water leak and water damage. Water can be hiding in the floors, ceiling, or walls after a flood. In many cases, water damage goes unseen until major damage is caused or you begin to smell mold or mildew. It's important to have your basement waterproofed to avoid water damage before it starts.
Looking for local basement waterproofing companies? It's no secret that it's crucial to waterproof your basement no matter where you live. In fact, up to 98% of houses with basements will experience some type of water damage in their lifetime.
Fortunately, A+ Environmental is the basement waterproofing company you need to keep your home dry and free of water damage. To learn more about waterproofing your basement, waterproofing system maintenance, or foundation repairs, contact A+ Environmental today.

I agree with you that some water damage cannot be noticed until they become serious. My sister complained to me that her basement smells moldy even though she doesn't see any water stains. I will let her know that her basement might be having water damage. It's best if I waterproof my basement too so that I don't have to worry about water damage in the future.

I definitely agree that our basement is very susceptible to water damage, regardless of what might be the reason is. We're not sure if it's caused by a problem in our foundation or just a pipe leak but nevertheless, we still have to deal with a wet basement. It might be better to have it checked by professionals and see if it needs remediation services.

Water damage can be a huge issue in any home, and can often lead to expensive repairs. One way to help prevent water damage is to have your basement waterproofed. Basement waterproofing is the process of sealing your basement so that water cannot enter it. There are a few different methods of waterproofing, but all of them involve either sealing the basement floor or walls, or installing a drainage system.
